With the autumn fast approaching (where did summer go?), it’s time to check out the latest hair and beauty trends.
It’s all in the eyes
Wherever you looked at the fashion shows, the autumn/winter trends of 2016 are going to be all about statement eyes. Think of the 60s Twiggy look with dramatic eyeliner. You can also get creative with super-graphic eyeliner. Try drawing lines under your eyelids, and experiment with different colors.
As seen at the Dior show, a dark and dramatic lip will be one of the biggest trends. Go for a very dark blackcurrant or plum for a perfect pout.
Another significant trend was the fresh-faced look. Healthy, glowing skin with minimal eye and lip makeup can make a real statement. It can be set off beautifully with a peachy blush and iridescent powder on the cheekbones, cupid’s bow and eyelids.
The masculine, marcel side-parting was a big thing on the catwalk for this season. It looks great combined with a sleek,wet-look ponytail. It also adds drama and sophistication to any look, so get creative and play around with straight and curly styles.
The ultra-modern up-do
The classic chignon was everywhere at the fashion shows. It’s a look that everyone can pull off, whether it’s a classic twist or a more relaxed look. You can pull out soft wisps by the hair to make the look softer.
Get your glitter on
Who doesn’t love a bit of glitter? It makes even the most everyday makeup look exciting. Try it across your brow bone or in the corner of your eyes like they did at Jenny Packham. You can get glitter from a beauty supply store, or visit a makeup counter to find out more.
Let it go
When it comes to you hair, the natural look is very much on trend this year. You needn’t worry about having bedhead anymore with the “styled by nature” look being one of the hottest hair trends.
With the combination of dark eyes and dark lips, there is also a big gothic trend this year. When combined with slicked back hair, it can be a dramatic and elegant way to carry off this season’s look.
Hairbands are hot
If you think back to the 60s and 70s hippy days, then you’ll get an idea of how the hairband should work for you. Combine with smoky eyes and wavy hair for a retro look that’s bang on trend.
Accessorize your hair
Shiny hair accessories were everywhere on the catwalks. Big statement clips were added to hair to create a striking look. Combined with a chignon or low ponytail, it’s a great way of adding some personality to a laid back style.
A lot of the fashion houses also relaxed their rules and decided that “anything goes.” The likes of Gucci, Topshop, and Victoria Beckham had a variety of statement looks to suit the style of each model.
