Dreams in Heels will now begin highlighting powerful women. Today, we’ve selected one who has brains and beauty combined, and she is starting to take the country pop music industry by storm, Ms. Jillian Steele!
She was born with a life made for a storyteller. At the early age of 12, she was diagnosed with polyps on her vocal chords. Turned away by doctors fearful that an operation would cause permanent damage to her singing voice, her family never gave up hope.
Determination, faith, and of course thanks to the talent of a top surgeon in New York, this career-threatening surgery was performed successfully. Jillian did not give up even when being forbidden to speak for two weeks during recovery; she actually took that time to focus on her writing. It was then that she began to find her new voice through songwriting – jotting down hundreds of experiences, ideas, and emotions, and learning to express herself through lyrics. That is real persistence! She found her inspiration.

Growing up on Long Island, New York, the indie pop singer-songwriter developed an early taste for performing by singing and acting in musicals and commercials. A few years later after the surgery, she moved to Nashville and immediately found a vibrant community centered on music and an appreciation for the messages behind her songs.
Not one to be afraid to leave home, Jillian also refined her songwriting skills by incorporating experiences from her surroundings and life journey. Her newly released song, Find me, will be available on February 22, 2017. Stay tuned for more updates by visiting her website.
