To put these things in the forefront of your mind, today I’m going to look at some of the essentials we have to make the effort with, to stay in tip-top health.
A Pap Test
From the age of 21, you should be offered a Pap Test. It is a simple procedure that very accurately tests for cervical cancer. It lets your doctor know if pre-cancerous cells can be seen or if there are indeed cancerous cells on the cervix. The name derives from the doctor who discovered this way of testing, George Papanikolaou. During the procedure, cells are gently scraped away from your cervix for testing. You should have this test every three years. However, if after the age of 30 you have had three clear tests, you may only be asked back every five years.
A mammogram screening for breast cancer is not recommended under the age of forty, but it is recommended to self-check your breasts every month. This exam will check for any abnormalities or warning signs of rashes, dimpling, lumps or fluid. Clinical breast exams are an important part of early detection of breast cancer.
Always keep on top of your contraception needs. If you are having sex and not planning a pregnancy, you need to use some form of contraception. Blood Pressure And Cholesterol

Checking your blood pressure is crucial as a high blood pressure can be early warning signs of future health problems. A high blood pressure puts a strain on your heart and arteries, and this can cause stroke, heart attacks and kidney disease. After the age of 20, your cholesterol should also be checked every five years. It is critical to know your cholesterol levels as they play an important part of your overall health. High cholesterol is a risk factor for stroke and heart disease. There are diet plans and medication that can lower your cholesterol, so it is always better to stay on top of this test as a preventative method.
