Unique Ideas For Your Hen Night That You Will Love!

One of the best things about getting married is having the last night of freedom with your best friends and family members commonly known as a “hen night.”

First you need to decide if you are going to bestow the honour of arranging your hen night to your maid of honor or a special bridesmaid. If they are too busy, or if you would prefer to, you can plan the party yourself! Sorting out a hen do can be tricky when everybody has different ideas of how to have fun – but regardless you are the center of attention so your interests come first.

Second, to begin, write down a list of who is actually invited. Then, once you have received their responses, you can talk to the other hens about what they can afford to spend. Once you have a budget in mind, the fun can really start.

Here are some unique ideas to make your hen night an unforgettable do!

Photo Shoot

Be a star for the day by arranging a photo shoot for you and the other hens. It will be so much fun and will result in capturing your special moment with photos that you can keep forever. Research your local photographers and see if they can take pictures at a location (maybe one that’s meaningful to you), or if you all need to head to a studio. Some companies do packages where you will all be pampered and made over when you first arrive. They will often style your hair and do your makeup so that you all look fabulous. Make sure you leave enough time, if you plan other activities for afterwards. They may even let you have a couple of wardrobe changes while you are there. It’s a great way for your friends and family to all bond and usually, is a once in a lifetime opportunity where you are surrounded by so many wonderful women that are important to you.

The session itself will run for at least a couple of hours. Talk to the photographer ahead of time about the types of photos you would really like; the more prepared you are, the more likely you are to be very satisfied with the results. It will also prepare you for the photos on the big day (pay attention to the pictures you prefer of yourself in preparation) and help you not to be camera shy.

Wine tasting

If you are a group of ladies who love a glass of wine or three, you may enjoy a private wine tasting for your hen night. It’s a lot of fun, and you will inevitably end up giggling and a tad tipsy by the end of the night so don’t forget to arrange transportation. If you fancy something really unique, you could even go on a Wine Trail, rather than the traditional pub crawl. There are many beautiful places available, such as the Hermann Wine Trail. You may be able to pre-arrange a different wine at each pub stop. If this doesn’t float your boat, you could always go to a vineyard. It would be amazing to walk around while you enjoy some delicious wines. Oftentimes, a vineyard tour can be easily arranged; great opportunity to learn how a wine goes from the vine to the bottle.

If you want to learn while having fun on your hen night, some sightseeing would be a fab idea to keep you all entertained. Cities such as London or New York have so much to see and do. Museums are always good to wander around, particularly if the weather isn’t good. Sightseeing is a great option if you are not all big drinkers and don’t fancy a night on the town that includes alcohol. Make sure to book tickets in advance for attractions. Consider arranging a sightseeing bus so that you can see everything. Just don’t forget to take a lot of pictures and document your fun!

Vintage tea party

If you love the vintage look, then a tea party would be ideal. You could all wear beautiful dresses and even do your hair in a vintage style. Then, find a location to host your afternoon tea. It could be held at a cafe or beautiful tea shop. Or you could do it at home, just make sure to get enough sandwiches, champagne, and tea for everyone! Pick some old school tracks to boogie to afterwards, or find a themed club to go on to and keep the party going!

Cocktail making

Another fun and unique idea is to plan a cocktail making session. It might be something you have always wanted to try. Get dressed up for the event (pick a theme that is totally you – 80s, sports, sexy dresses, etc. – don’t be afraid to use your imagination).

During the session, you can arrange to learn how to make some of your favorite cocktails. It’s a great way for people to get to know each other. You get learn something new and get drunk at the same time (bonus)! Normally, it’s done at a bar, and then you can go and party afterwards. If you can’t afford to do this with an instructor, you could do it at home. Get a cocktail recipe book and then you can all try making them at your own pace!

Life Drawing class

If everyone in your group is up for it, you could attend a Life Drawing Class. Don’t be shy about the naked guy in front of you – to him, it’s just a job! It’s a new and popular activity that will definitely end up a night to remember.  It can be a bit embarrassing with your mother, and/or your soon to be mother in law attendance but if they are up for a laugh, go for it! You can all show off your art skills and compare drawings.

Hope that these ideas will alleviate the stress and help you plan a fun and memorable party for your last night of freedom! Remember, the hen do is all about you and what you want to do – so, don’t be shy and go for it!

These are definitely some interesting ideas! I have a hen do coming up and it’s for a lady who isn’t so interested in just drinking, so I might show her this.

An interesting article. I would never have thought of sightseeing as a hen party activity! (I have an obvious bias towards activities involving alcohol). I really really like the idea of a vintage tea party though, with the vintage dresses and nice china.
