1.      Choose an affordable destination

As previously mentioned, the world has a lot to offer in terms of places to visit. Thus, you want to first do your proper research on some of the most affordable places to visit, based on your budget. Thankfully, the internet is a hub for tons of information, which makes it easier for you to do your research for finding cost-friendly places, especially considering budget-friendly locations from your airport. There are many amazing websites, such as Skyscanner, which allows you to insert the name of your airport and then search for the destinations that are the least expensive from your airport. It helps a lot if you can be flexible with your vacation dates and/or sometimes even consider leaving from another closer airport.

This is not to say that you should only look at cheap destinations, no! Sometimes you might get yourself an amazing deal for a destination that you otherwise thought was expensive. You can also use your credit card points or miles towards your ideal vacation, and definitely you can find great deals by searching on comparative sites like hotels.com and more. So many options!

Tip: Make sure to also research food costs at the destination, and include costs for tours and other expenses in your budget. This way you can have a better idea on how much money you’ll need for your trip.

2.      Book your flights in advance

This is a no brainer. Early booking of your flight is a great way to save on costs when traveling. The moment you decide on a destination, look to find an affordable flight. Take your time to compare the rates of different airlines and choose one that fits into your budget.

If you are traveling like me from a place such as Perth, Australia to another Country, most of the time the flights get quite pricy, the more time passes, especially if I want to travel to farther destinations.

A common recommendation is when booking your flight, also choose a return ticket as it’s often cheaper to fly round-trip rather than booking one ticket at a time. This is not always the case so, a pro tip from me is that, I usually also research one way tickets, or flights with multiple connections. It all depends on your budget, satisfaction and final destination. Better to use comparison sites to find the best rates.

3.      Compare airport parking rates

Car parks in the airport or around the airport can be very expensive, but it doesn’t have to be.  For instance, if you are worried about the parking rate at the Perth international airport parking, you can book parking with different agencies, such as Parkos, that offer affordable rates. Yet again, to ensure that you have the best options, book your parking in advance and, who knows, you might get a great deal! This is true for most airports.

4.      Book a rental apartment

You do not necessarily have to stay in a 5-star hotel while on holiday in order to have fun. Today, there are a plethora of rental apartments that you can find at a cheaper rate.

Ensure that you research some of the best rentals in the destination of your choice and book as early as possible to avoid missing a great deal. You can use sites like AirBnb or VRBO to find the best apartments for rent at most destinations around the world.

Take Away

With the above information at your disposal, there is no excuse whatsoever for not traveling under the misnomer that it is too expensive. Remember, by planning well in advance, you can save on a lot of costs. So, enjoy touring the world and I wish you safe travels!
