While you might love it where you live, there’s a big wide world out there waiting to be discovered. Travel is good for the mind, body, and soul and everyone should consider doing it. One of the trendiest places to visit this year is Mexico. The beaches are dazzling, there are some spectacular cultural sites, and the weather is fantastic. If you need more convincing, here are four must-know reasons why you should visit Mexico.
Getting There is Easy
There are more than 30 Mexican airports that receive direct flights from the USA. Mexico City and Cancun also receive direct scheduled flights from Europe, the Caribbean and Central and South American countries.
There is, however, another option that can get you even closer to where you want to be. Booking a private jet is a great option if you want to travel in style. Stratos Jet Charters can help you fly when you want, where you want and however you want to. There are economy options, or you can push the boat out and travel in absolute luxury.

Mexican Cuisine
For many, Mexican cuisine consists of enchiladas, salsa, and chips. Take a trip to Mexico, however, and you’ll soon realize there’s far more on offer. The South-Pacific coast is famous for dishes created from chili peppers, chicken and cheese. In the Gulf region, you’re more likely to be tempted by dishes made with corn or vanilla. Another favorite for locals and visitors alike are fava bean soups, together with rich and hearty pork and red chili stews. The Mexicans also do sweet things very well, for example, churros, rice pudding, and ice pops. Not forgetting street food in the shape of tacos and tamales!

Experience a Mexican Festival
Mexico holds some very unique festivals, all of which are steeped in cultural traditions. One of the most important is the Day of the Dead. Officially known as Dia de Los Muertos, it’s celebrated between 31 October and 2 Nov. Celebrations take place throughout the country with food and music. Personal offerings, candles, and flowers also play a part in this festival that honors loved ones who have died. Mexico also has its own balloon festival that takes place in November. On this occasion, however, the balloons are made of tissue paper.

The Chance to Step Back in Time
Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Coba are the three most popular Mayan ruins you can visit, but there are 23 more sites worth exploring, especially if you want to avoid the crowds. Known as the Egypt of the Americas, these Mayan cities are a wonder to behold. Mexico has a rich and varied history, and there are many other ancient ruins to explore. Monte Alban in Oaxaca is another. It’s a site that has been used by the Olmecs, Zapotecs, and Mixtecs and they’ve left behind carved terraces, pyramids, and dams in the mountains.
