During my latest trips to Los Angeles, I had spent lots of time trying new places. I have noticed how Culver City has drastically changed from a drive-through town into a trending area of highly acclaimed restaurants, bars, and art galleries. If you’re looking for a place to stop at and have a delicious and invigorating drink, I have found one of Culver City’s newest restaurants, The Detour Bistro Bar.
The Detour Bistro Bar combines farm-to-table produce with California seasonal and a variety of regional European dishes to create a unique dining destination in Culver City. The new west side restaurant is the brick-and-mortar destination that belongs to Los Angeles locals and long-time caterers Ranni Kumgisky and Dane Pearson of Great Dane Catering and Events. The duo searches for fresh seasonal ingredients to create each weekly menu that keeps customers wanting more and coming back. The Detour is open daily for lunch, happy hour, and dinner and adds brunch on weekends.
One of The Detour Bar revitalizing summer cocktails is Strawberry Summer Smash. Nothing adds refreshing sweetness to a cocktail quite like strawberries. Since, it’s officially strawberry season and California grows 80% of the strawberries in the U.S., it is the perfect time to put together a tasty drink. So why not take advantage of their local and farm-fresh resource with a delicious cocktail by The Detour Bistro Bar. With its mouthwatering aroma, this invigorating strawberry spritzer is a great and easy way to sneak in your daily vitamins while relaxing on a sun-kissed patio with friends.

Strawberry Summer Smash
1 ½ ounces vodka
1/3 ounce simple syrup
1/3 ounce lime juice
splash of soda
1 sprig fresh mint
Instructions: In a cocktail glass, muddle strawberries and mint together. In a shaker, add vodka, syrup, lime juice and soda and shake with crushed ice. Pour the mixture into the cocktail glass and garnish with a strawberry
