There is a really good chance that this post contains affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission (for which I am deeply grateful) at no additional cost to you.

Yes, we mean free online yoga classes for all levels! Are you in? Let’s get you started by highlighting the best yoga videos for when you’re on-the go or your stay at home.

According to a research on psychological effects of staying-at-home for extended periods of time without substantial social contact, 28.9% and 31.2% of people tend to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and depression in such conditions. Whether you are a home body, always traveling alone for work, or just being temporarily quarantined during the pandemic, believe it or not, yoga can be just what you need during this time.

Everyone is on the hunt for innovative ideas to not only battle boredom, but keep strong in mind, body and spirit during any period of social distancing. My go-to-activity is yoga + meditation.

My choice is not limited to just personal preference; rather, I choose these because, as I mentioned earlier, they best promote the psychological health everyone needs, and I have no intention of entertaining any unwanted, unhealthy thoughts.

Now, many of you might be wondering, “What is the connection between yoga and mental health?” Well, according to research conducted by Harvard University, yoga counters stress and depression.

So, for all of those who have never had a chance to try yoga, or maybe seem more accustomed to doing it with an instructor, you can now explore these online sources, which I have listed down below after extensive research. Don’t blame me if you get addicted!

Yoga With Adriene on YouTube

If you are a yoga addict, then you would have heard about Yoga with Adriene but, if not, then no worries. You can check out her channel right now by clicking here. She is someone who can make you go from “I have to do this every day” to “I want to do this every day”.

Her channel offers a ton of yoga-related content for people belonging to all walks of life. If you are a beginner and intend to make yoga a regular practice, then you should start out with her “30 days of yoga” playlist. In addition to this, she teaches yoga practices targeting specific parts of the body.

Have you ever heard of chakra? Naruto fans would have definitely heard about it! Anyway, it is a term associated with subtle body, which is a part that you can’t see or touch, but through which all the energy flows.

It has seven key points termed as chakra, and each of them is a vortex of energy. The idea is that, at times, one or more of them gets blocked, which results in anxiety, lethargy, stress, or digestive disorders. Adriene offers a solution for this as well through her chakra yoga.

Whether you want a quick yoga session of 10 minutes or an extended one for 45 minutes, she has it all!

Yoga With Kassandra on YouTube

Do you want to feel as if the yoga instructor is in the room with you? Well, the charismatic Kassandra on YouTube, who has divided her content into four distinct playlists based on focus, style, length, and level, evokes just that presence.

In style, she has targeted 5 types of yoga. These include: Yin, vinyasa, power, hatha, and restorative. Let’s discuss what these yoga types are suitable for, in order to help you to understand whether this channel is suitable for you or should you explore other options that I have gathered.

  • Yin yoga is a slow-paced yoga that involves asanas, which are certain body positions that you have to hold for a specific amount of time. This kind of yoga is associated with Chinese medicine and helps in stress reduction and improved blood circulation.
  • Vinyasa yoga involves a transition between various asanas. It enhances endurance and strength, stability and balance, and lowers stress and anxiety.
  • Power yoga involves rigorous vinyasa yoga and is centered around fitness improvement.
  • Hatha yoga is a combination of yin, vinyasa, power, and other forms of yoga.
  • Restorative yoga is done via the support of props rather than your muscles. It includes asanas for extended periods of time.

In focus, Kassandra targets specific body parts, whereas, in length, she focuses on yoga sessions for varying time commitments. Similarly, she has divided her content for beginners, intermediates, and experts.

Yoga for Stress & Anxiety – Yoga Class by Five Parks Yoga on YouTube

Staying locked at home is stressful. Regardless of how much time you spend socializing on social media, the absence of outdoor activities takes quite a toll on the mind, allowing stress and anxiety to sneak in as soon as there’s an opening. You can counter this by investing just one hour of your day in an activity that will not only relax your mind, but it will tone your body as well!

All you need to do is follow Erin Sampson in her hour-long journey of fighting stress and anxiety through yoga. She is my go-to yogin to keep unwanted thoughts at bay, or when I am stressed out after a long trip.

In addition to her stress relief session, she has numerous other videos as well, based on the length and specific body needs. Most of her followers get addicted to her style and visit her yoga retreats in Costa Rica. I haven’t been there yet, but it is surely on my bucket list.

Yoga Vida YouTube Channel and Instagram Live Sessions

Yoga Vida is a yoga studio with its branches in four locations in New York City; these include Dumbo, NoHo, Tribeca, and Union Square.

Their sessions are absolutely free and are dependent upon the donations of their regular visitors. However, a donation isn’t compulsory, but if you feel like supporting their cause, then you can do it through Venmo @yogavida. Don’t forget to mention your favorite instructor’s name in the note.

Unfortunately, you can’t visit these sessions in person due to the current situation caused by Covid-19. However, fortunately, they record their sessions and have uploaded them onto YouTube. They also provide daily Instagram classes, each of which is 60 minutes long and can be accessed through Instagram Live. Check out their class schedule here to find out what suits you the best.

Yoga4Cancer / y4c Online Class and Live Sessions Via Zoom

Times of quarantine are specifically hard for Cancer patients because staying locked within the house can evoke negative thoughts. One of the successful methods in reducing stress in such patients is yoga, which has been proven by research, which found that a seven-week yoga routine reduced mood swings by up to 65%. Additional research shows that yoga reduces fatigue in cancer patients and reduction in fatigue decreases as the number of sessions per week increases.

The best source in this regard is the Yoga4Cancer/y4c online class and live sessions, which are held through Zoom. This applaudable initiative was taken by Tari Prinster to facilitate and support cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers at various locations throughout the US and Canada. You can visit their studio in-person; however, the sessions are suspended currently due to covid-19, but you can still benefit through their 60-minute online classes. You can access these classes by filling out this form.

In addition to live sessions, they record the classes and distribute them, free of cost, among those who were unable to join them due to any reason. You can access their class schedule through their Facebook Page.

MyYogaWorks

Do you want to learn yoga from a studio whose history dates back to 1987? Well, who doesn’t?! The older the studio, the better the technique and instructors!

My reason for choosing this studio is that they offer my favorite kind of Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, which is a style that focuses on precision and alignment. It’s all about your breath control, and it’s amazing for building strength and flexibility. As someone with a leg condition, this has helped me tremendously since it really benefits my legs, and improves my overall health.

I used to attend the Iyengar Yoga Institute in New York City and was smitten by the instructing style of the teacher. Unfortunately, my travel patterns make it difficult to attend the classes regularly, but thankfully, MyYogaWorks is here to help me out with my yoga routine on the go or from home.

Initially, they offer a free 14-day trial period after which you can subscribe to their service for just $15 per month which, in my opinion, is quite affordable for more than 1300 yoga and meditation classes. You will find all levels of yoga on their website, starting from beginner to expert. What else can you ask for?!

Furthermore, if you get addicted after completing the trial, you can continue availing yourself of his service at a price as low as $10 per month.

Sky Ting

Sky Ting is one of those options that will cost you a few bucks, but you won’t regret it. Now, most of you might be wondering, “Why am I so confident?” Well, you can also gain this confidence as well as after going through their 7-days trial version, which is completely free and provides an in-depth insight into their practices.

Gaia

If you’ve ever purchased yoga gear, then you probably recognize this name, because they are well-known in the yoga world for their affordability. Fortunately, they have expanded their reach to the world of streaming yoga, which was welcomed by yogis throughout the world.

Gaia’s content isn’t just limited to yoga coaching, which is a major issue with other online teaching brands. They regularly update their content with nutritious eating and spiritually related documentaries. Furthermore, they also telecast TV series and provide articles on related topics.

Unlike other paid subscriptions, Gaia is quite affordable because it offers more than 250 yoga classes and hundreds of other fitness-related content for under $10 per month. Furthermore, the teaching is done by world-renowned yogis such as Kino Macgregor, Kia Miler, and Tony Sherman. The goal-oriented teaching approach is sure to keep you on your toes!

Bonus: Even though this is not a video, I totally recommend this podcast for those who prefer to listen to the instructions, rather than following a video.

Yoga to the People Podcast

If you have the basic know-how about yoga and prefer podcasts over other forms of content, then there isn’t any better source to benefit from during the quarantine days than the Yoga to the People (YTTP) Podcasts.

These podcasts are generally suitable for people who have visited their studios situated in New York City, California, and Arizona. However, if you have a general gist of yoga then you are good to go. Beware! These sessions are not for beginners; they include hardcore YTTP practice.

Each podcast is 60 minutes long which, in my opinion, is neither short nor long. The balanced length of each session and its intensity will definitely distract your mind from the current chaos and leave your body in a state, which I lovingly call the “YTTP bliss.” You can listen to their sessions through their website, or subscribe to, or download the content via iTunes.

For all those who are wondering about their in-studio sessions, you should definitely check them out, once we’re able, if you are in any of the aforementioned areas. I had been previously visiting their New York City “Vigorous and Sweaty” sessions quite often and noticed a substantial improvement in my overall fitness.
