Olde English District:
Olde English District of South Carolina is actually made up of seven different counties, located in the north-central area. The district obtained its name from its origin, as it was established by English settlers in the mid-1770s. This place has a long history of revolutionary war battles and is known for many historical sites such as monuments, buildings, markers, and parks. If you plan to visit this famous tourist destination, prepare to spend some hours at the South Carolina Railroad Museum, Landsford Canal State Park, Catawba Cultural Center, Historic Camden and Historic Brattonsville.
South Carolina State Museum
This tourist destination is located inside the famous Columbia Mills Building, and is rated as the largest museum in the state. Here you will find amazing displays of technology, natural history science, historical background information and art as well. The museum has four different floors that are loaded with some temporary and permanent exhibits. Visitors are encouraged to spend some time in the 4D theatre, located within the museum, which is a totally unique and realistic experience!

Dupont Planetarium
Dupont Planetarium is basically a part of the University of South Carolina Aiken, and it’s prime mission is to inspire people to explore all of the the amazing wonders of the sky! There is a well-designed, intimate theatre with 30-foot diameter screen but only 45 total seats available. Many people also love to organize private events and shows in this famous theatre. Tourists can also join the public events that are organized every Saturday evening but make sure to reserve seats in advance, to avoid being inconvenienced, due to their popularity.
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden
The Riverbanks Zoo is located near Saluda River, and it covers an area of almost 170 acres. There are many domestic as well as wild animals in the zoo, and visitors often love to observe the unique activities of monkeys, giraffes, African lions and reptiles, such as lizards and snakes. You will be happy to hear that this zoo stays open every day except on New Year’s Day, Christmas and Thanksgiving. There are more han 2000 animals and 4200 plant species. Moreover, you will also be able to find 3 acres of play area for children, including a carousel, a climbing wall and vertical rope course…what fun!

Drayton Hall
It is situated in close vicinity to the Ashley River and was established long ago in 1738. This is believed to be the oldest preserved plantation home present in the US, and it’s open for public access. The main area of this hall presents an outstanding design of Georgian-Palladian architecture, adding to the atmosphere of having stepped back in time. The tourists need to spare almost 50 minutes to explore this area, and don’t forget to also enjoy some time in the specially designed resting area.
Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens
This tourist spot was actually established in 1681, and it has been growing a wide range of crops for the last three centuries! It’s still known for its production of tasty pecans and traditional cotton. Many varieties of vegetables and fruits are also sold from its market as well, so definitely take advantage of the fresh produce. Visitors can explore this 738 acres area with guided tours that run pretty regularly.

LuLu’s Beach Arcade and Ropes Course
Another fantastic Myrtle Beach attraction is LuLu’s, a fun arcade-style entertainment center.
